BJP councilor Suresh Kumar Chaurasia has been elected unopposed as Deputy Chairman of Municipal Corporation on Thursday. In a dramatic development, while Congress members were absent from the meeting, SP members walked out. After this the election process was completed and nine executive members of BJP unanimously elected Suresh Kumar Chaurasia unopposed for the post of Deputy Chairman.

The presence of all the members was checked in the Municipal Executive from 12 noon to 12:20. Congress member Prince Rai Astron remained absent in this. SP members Haroon Ansari and Pramod Rai walked out of the room as soon as the meeting started. From 12:20 to 12:40 pm, Katuapura Councilor Suresh Kumar Chaurasia was nominated for the post of Deputy Chairman from among the members of the Executive Committee. Suresh Kumar was elected unopposed as Deputy Chairman after the withdrawal of nominations from 12:40 pm to 1 pm. After this, Mayor Ashok Kumar Tiwari and other councilors welcomed him by garlanding him. Due to the presence of only one candidate, the situation of election through Shalaka Patra could not be created.

9 out of 12 members of the executive are from BJP, two members from SP and one member from Congress party. Among them are Garima Singh, Suresh Kumar Chaurasia, Rajesh, Sindhu Lal Sonkar, Suresh Patel, Madan Mohan Dubey, Kusum, Akshaybar Singh, Shyam Asre Maurya from BJP. Haroon Ansari from SP, Pramod Rai and Prince Rai Astron from Congress are the executive members. SP Chief Whip Haroon Ansari said that the executive did not have the numbers. Even the Congress councilors did not come. In such a situation, he walked out of the meeting. The mandate given by the people. We all accept that.
